First Night Success!
SO, all the struggle, all the pressure all the work… and it was all a great success! We arrived on site about 10:00am and by 1:30pm we had kids lining up to paint! Though we weren’t supposed to “start” till 2:00pm, we decided to go ahead and spin up the machines. We had a non-stop line of people running the machines from about 1:45pm till 11:10pm when we ran out of cards. We started with 800 cards so I know we had at least that many finished artworks by the end of the evening. When we ran low on cards later in the evening we started scrounging for cards that had been “rejected” earlier in the day due to paint drops of fingerprints and using those!
I’ve begun to work on a video that shows how things went, but in the meantime you can check out this little gallery of some of the pictures taken here. As soon as I have the video ready, I’ll post it here. Thanks to all who sent emails for your support and encouragement!
I “found” an old spin art machine in a lady’s barn and talked her into taking $50 for it. I was there to buy an electric sign from her and saw the machine in the corner. When I asked her what it was, she laughed and said, oh, you aren’t old enough to remember these. As she explained, I was envisioning me making millions and millions of dollars and I asked her if I could buy it. She said, Are you sure?I finally talked her into taking money for it and since then I have made over $2000 dollars and I now have a website for it. I am booked all through December for birthdays, Christmas parties, and arts and crafts festivals. Mine is the old school version, but I sell frisbee to paint on and puzzles, and as of this morning, I also sell lunchboxes. I was packing my son’s lunch before school and now that the boxes are just a plastic box with a sticker of a cartoon character on them, I peeled them off and put sticker paper in my machine and then used clear enamel spray to seal it and put it on the lunchbox. I was setting up my booth tonight for a crafts fair tomorrow and 3 of the other vendors’ kids bought one from me! I’m telling you this ’cause Spin Art is back! I am working on how to put a t-shirt in my machine. I almost have it perfected. I’ll send you the plans if you’re interested. By the way, I love your machine!
I forgot to mention, I bought my machine on November 4th this year. I have now had it a month. Mine is also a 4 spinner. It looks like a hotdog stand. Complete with an umbrella in the middle and it has 4 motors so four projects can go at once. It is completely self-contained with a 50′ electrical cord and is on wheels that go under it so it can sit on legs while using, then you push a lever and it goes up on the wheels. It has a big handle and you just pull it to the next destination. I would like to build more of them like it. Anyway, enough about mine. I am just excited. Thanks.
